Fitness

Usually, if you are normally of good health, a stoma should not be in your way or a problem.

I ride my bike, love the water and jump off anything I can and I even completed a scuba diving certificate and love adventure parks.

However, since my first operation I try to avoid large group activities. We don’t always have to be at the front line!

I find that team sports or fitness training in short pants can get a bit uncomfortable. The stoma bag can fill up quickly and gravity does the rest and within minutes, the team spirit is broken and all I can think of is the next loo.
In this case, I can highly recommend our neoprene belt, which gives a secure and comfortable feeling all around even with bowel movements and sticks to the skin due to its rubberised interior. Even then, eventually, gravity will set in.

Whatever activities we do, we should always stand by our stoma. People are very understanding and we have to believe in ourselves.
